Introduction: Improving managerial skills can lead to increased job satisfaction, motivation, and employee productivity. Therefore, enhancing middle managers' competencies can be considered a key strategy for improving management quality and overall performance at the headquarters of the Islamic Republic of Iran Army (AJA). The aim of this study is to investigate the impact of middle managers' competencies on the job performance of AJA headquarters staff.
Research Method: This research is quantitative and causal-comparative in nature, and it is applied in terms of its goal. The statistical population consists of the employees of the Islamic Republic of Iran Army headquarters. Using the Cochran sampling formula, the sample size was estimated to be 328 individuals. To collect data, the Liang et al. (2013) competency questionnaire, with four components—reliability, service orientation, achievement motivation, and innovation—and a Cronbach's alpha of 0.938 was used. For measuring job performance, the Bontis and Serenko (2007) job performance questionnaire, with three components—efficiency, effectiveness, and quality—and a Cronbach's alpha of 0.92 was used. Descriptive and inferential statistics were analyzed using SPSS 26 software.
Findings: The findings indicate that the significant positive impact of middle managers' competencies on the job performance of staff at the Islamic Republic of Iran Army headquarters is confirmed. Additionally, the significant positive impact of the components of middle managers' competencies on job performance is also confirmed.
Conclusion: Strengthening and developing middle managers' competencies can be considered an effective strategy for increasing productivity and job satisfaction among staff at the AJA headquarters,
